‘’The fox’s black eyes—two small suns in eclipse—stand there, fixed, marking M.’s face, distorted by desire. They deepen and gape like two small black holes. As the woman draws nearer, the depth of her own eyes shudders in response. The small bead at their center floods, spreads and gathers, trembles, breathes like a small rose, like a flower waking and deciding that from a bud it will begin to become a bloom with a slight, almost imperceptible movement—with a risk that is love. For love is desperately silent, real love; M. realizes this now, and you can hardly tell how it moves, how it comes toward you. That is love: a flower that grows in silence, like a miracle, and takes the risk—the risk of being destroyed.

Short and longer stories on the notions of time and transformation; thirteen characters look on, unsure, as they change.
